Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullah
Dear Parents
Welcome to new and returning parents and students to New Generation International School, where our mission is to "…bring forth well-balanced members of society....” It is a very exciting, challenging task to take on the role of middle school vice principal and I am deeply honored and appreciative to have been given this opportunity. The students, staff, and parents all share responsibility for the learning process. As we make the commitment to continually reflect on our practice in order to improve our instructional program, we know that parent involvement and support are critical to our success. It is gratifying to know that we have parents who work cooperatively with us to make educational decisions about what is best for our students. We look forward to the ongoing partnership between home and school and invite your continued support and participation. Your comments, questions, and suggestions are important and welcomed as we perpetually strive to improve. Our doors are always open!
I am looking with great anticipation at the year ahead. We have caring, dedicated staff members who are committed to ensuring that students are successful as they transition through what are typically years of great change intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically for our students. One of my goals is to work with our community as we continue on a path of strengthening inter-locking relationships among school, family and community. In so doing we will provide students a quality education as we set high expectations and the means to meet those goals.
Our principal has set forth the goal that every student graduates prepared for college, career and citizenship. We embrace this as a school as we foster a learning environment that develops students who are college ready and career bound. We offer a variety of academic programs in grades 6-8 in addition to several electives. Among our programs are Math, Science, Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health & Fitness, Technology Education, Art, Music, German, French, Pre-Algebra, Drama, and Study Skills.
We are developing an academic program that addresses individual student learning needs and promotes success for all students called the Education Development Program (EDP). Our school-wide focus is on improving Reading and Math test scores. We also have several offerings after school to assist students who need additional academic instruction.
In closing, I am a strong advocate for parent involvement. From personal experience, I know that middle school years can be both a joyous and difficult time for parents, students and educators. We welcome and want parents and guardians to be involved in our school. We need your knowledge and expertise! I invite you to disallow language or any other barriers to dissuade you from joining our New Generation International Schools learning community as we strive to be the best we can be. For example, you can assist us greatly by setting appropriate guidelines for completing homework, conferring daily about what is being taught in school.
If you have questions or concerns that arise, please feel free to contact me or come in for a visit. I am looking forward to meeting you. Please note that our instructional day begins at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 2: 45 P.M. The building however is open for students between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 2:55 P.M.
It is my hope that your children will also have fond memories of their time in middle school.
Again, welcome to YOUR school. We are honored to be partners with you in your child’s education and future.
Yours in Education,
Nevine Mohamed, M.Ed
